Blog entries from the Graphicz Facebook Page

Good as BT Broadband is you might want to replace your Home Hub with a higher spec Netgear or other router. To do so you need to use these internet settings. It is always a good idea to download and install the latest router firmware, then do a factory reset, before you start.

The bt internet settings are:

Username: bthomehub@btbroadband.com
You normally need to enter a password in the second field, use a password of BT.
Encapsulation: PPPoA (PPP over ATM)
Multiplexing Method: VC-BASED
VPI: 0
VCI: 38

Remember BT infinity is VDSL and many 'domestic' routers are ADSL. If the Home Hub you are replacing is an 'all in one' unit you may need an Openreach modem (white box) widely and inexpensively available on Ebay.

If you are a business you could consider using the built in Facebook wifi login to offer free wifi for your customers. The only Netgear router to offer this is the R6300v2, alas discontinued but still widely available again on Ebay.

You will need a business facebook page of course and you need to define your business as 'local business' and have the business address added for the wifi login to work.

Set up the R6300v2 router as above, Click Guest Network and select no security and enter your business name as the SSID, then click Advanced and at the bottom is 'Facebook login' tick the box and click apply, then configure and you will be taken to the Facebook configurayion page which is pretty self explanatory. Netgear have a help file to get you through it! Enjoy: kb.netgear.com/24279/How-To-Configure-Facebook-Wi-Fi-On-Your-NETGEAR-Router
